What are ASCII art and emoticons

Emoticons :
Internet is an indirect exchange zone, when you to someone or writing something, you can not express your emotions because you are not in front of you. That is why we use emoticons (or smiley). They may consist of a sequence of characters or simply a picture or sequence of pictures (animated gif format). What are ASCII art and emoticons-1
Custom made animated smiley in gif format
Most forums or often provide a list of clickable smileys those are automatically inserted into your text. They also use functions that look in your texts textual smileys and replaces them with images automatically. This allows to create a text more readable, more lively.

ASCII art :
ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a standard that defines how characters should be coded on 7 bits. So there is only 128 characters total (95 viewable). You can find on the Internet that gives you ASCII representation of 8 bits of a character (the eighth is still 0).
ASCII art is a graphic design technique that uses computers for presentation and consists of pictures pieced together from the 95 printable (from a total of 128) characters defined by the ASCII Standard from 1963 and ASCII compliant character sets with proprietary extended characters (beyond the 128 characters of standard 7-bit ASCII). The term is also loosely used to refer to text based art in general. ASCII art can be created with any text editor, and is often used with -form languages. Most examples of ASCII art require a fixed-width font (non-proportional fonts, as on a traditional typewriter) such as Courier for presentation.
The ASCII art is to create shapes and images with a number of characters limited. You can do this directly or with that converts your drawings. This gives rather interesting results.
It is common in programs Review decorated by ASCII characters that create boundaries. It is a drift of ASCII art.
Thus, systems that do not read images directly (as in Microsoft command prompt or MS-DOS and terminal on or ) can still see shapes that can embellish these tools.
Here is an example:
What are ASCII art and emoticons-2 Example of ASCII art
Ascii Art as an idea coalesced into existence bceause people
wanted more. They wanted more than just your standard Hercules
display Atari or your Monochrome Commodore 64. To meet this
demand, one singular artist, whose name is lost to the annals of
history decided to take the plunge. Instead of text, he (or she)
had the ingenuity to use the characters /, \, |, -, _ and
whatever else came to mind to create words. An amazing idea.
And a perfect one. People latched onto this. Anyone that could
display text could display ascii art. It was fast, compact,
independant of platform type, and one group in particular set
their sights on it the most, the then-thriving Amiga scene. It
was perfect for Bulletin Board Systems, text-based adventures,
for anything they could think of. Perfect then, and to this day
for file descriptions.

  • Smilies are widely used in the universe.
  • The ASCII art used to represent various forms with a limited number of characters.

If verified, Tianhe-1A would be significantly faster than the current title holder, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Cray XT5 Jaguar in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, which topped the list issued in June at 1.75 petaflops per second.

How to choose a browser ?

The principle of the browsers

A browser is a software that allows you to view websites through HTTP by typing the addresses. It display pages by interpreting a markup language: XHTML. The appearance of a site may be different from one browser to another as this interpretation is not always the same due to non-compliance.

How to choose a browser?

A good browser should first have a clear interface providing easy access to priority functions. For example, it is important to have an input box to type directly searches.
Another criterion is the possibility of using extensions. Firefox, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer all allows to install extensions that add functionality.
Must load and display the pages fast.
It is also important that the browser best meets the standards imposed by the W3C which is not in case of Internet Explorer for example.

The strengths of the most popular browsers

The browser that best meets these criteria is Mozilla Firefox. It has a well thought out interface with a tab system. It displays the page is fast and you can add extensions. It receives updates very fast too.

Another browser is still widely used Internet Explorer because it is installed by default on Windows systems, except in European countries.

Opera is very good browser though little used. It has a nice interface and has the advantage of being in possession of a BitTorrent client default. It has default RSS feed reader. Opera has excellent completely transparent glass look Aero skin that fits well with Windows 7.

Google Chrome is the newest browser. Its strong point is to be lightweight and have a fast display. It contains only the bare minimum that may be suitable for most users who do not use RSS and other advanced features.

Apple’s Safari is another nice browser, it has clean and innovative top sites and bookmarked sites page. Has default RSS feed reader.

It may be noted that all these browsers now has tab browsing.

To summarize:

The lets you view Web sites.
Firefox is currently one of the best browsers, combining speed, security and good interface.
The scalability is important because it allows you to customize the browser as needed.
