Session Initiation Protocol or SIP

Session Initiation Protocol or SIP is a network protocol for setting up, controlling and terminating a communication session between two or more participants. Previously we published What is SIP Trunking - SIP Trunking is based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The protocol inter alia is in the RFC 3261 specification. In the IP telephony, Session Initiation Protocol or SIP is a commonly used protocol. Unlike H.323, Session Initiation Protocol or SIP is developed by IETF. H.323 can be greatly simplified as ISDN over IP. While this allowed particular PBX manufacturers, relatively quick and easy to switch the communication on IP networks, but on the other hand, the strengths and weaknesses of IP networks have not been considered enough. This is particularly apparent in connection with NAT, firewalls and especially in the retail networks (e.g. DSL routers ) – the necessary translation of network addresses, which can be achieved in H.323 only with much effort.…
