Organic Light Emitting Diode : OLED Details

Organic light emitting diode is a luminous thin film component of organic semiconductor materials, which differs from the inorganic light emitting diodes (LED) in that the current density and luminance are low and no single-crystal materials are required in case of Organic Light Emitting Diode. Compared to conventional (inorganic) light emitting diodes, organic light-emitting diode can therefore be produced at cheaper rate, their life is actually lower than that of conventional LEDs. Organic Light Emitting Diode technology is intended primarily for displays (like TV, computer monitors) and retail display. Another application is large area lighting. Due to the materialistic property, it is possible to use Organic Light Emitting Diode as flexible screen like an electronic paper.
